South Florida has fifth-worst foreclosure rate despite drop in filings, RealtyTrac says
Foreclosure filings fell in South Florida in April but the region still had the fifth-highest foreclosure rate in the nation, according to RealtyTrac.
There was one foreclosure filing for every 386 homes in the tri-county area. The highest rate was one in 297 homes in Atlantic City, N.J. The rest of the top five were Florida regions: Jacksonviile (one in 341), Tampa (one in 372), and Daytona (one in 378).
RealtyTrac counts new lawsuits, judgments and repossessions as foreclosure filings.
