UM scientists awarded $721K to study stem cells link in Alzheimer’s disease

A duo of University of Miami Miller School of Medicine researchers won a three-year $721,423 grant from the U.S. Department of Defense to study a potential link in Alzheimer’s disease, the school announced Tuesday. Miller professors Margaret Periack-Vance, Ph.D., and Derek Dykxhoom, Ph.D., will serve as co-principal investigators on the grant, along with Dr. Richard Mayeux of New York-based Columbia University.
